This past weekend was the annual Men and Boys' Campout. In Pastor John's absence, Rev. D J Paglia filled the pulpit on Sunday. Following the sermon, he asked the children who were present to join him at the front of the sanctuary to sing "Jesus Loves Me." ... See MoreSee Less

"iPod, iPad, try iPray." - credit to Faithe Slagenweit Keefer

Do you pray? I hope you do. If not, why not start. Jesus instructs us in Matthew 6:9-13 to pray the following prayer:

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." (ESV)

Another good prayer to pray over yourself and others is the prayer that the Apostle Paul prayed over the Ephesian Church. That can be found in Ephesians 1:17-21.

The best prayer you could ever pray for yourself is found in Psalm 51 titled "Create in me a clean heart, O God." This Psalm was written by King David after Nathan confronted him about his sin with Bathsheba.

You don't need to have sinned like David to be in need of this prayer. The Bible says that all of us have sinned and fall short (Rom. 3:23) and that, on our own none of us are righteous (Rom 3:10).

Thankfully the story doesn't end there. You see, God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to die on a cross and take the penalty for your sin and mine. You don't need to be separated from Him any longer, and you can live with Him for eternity (John 3:16). If you can honestly, in your heart pray Psalm 51, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. (Rom. 10:9)
